a. Write an email to your friend living abroad stating the contributions of Prithvi Narayan Shah in the unification of Nepal.

Dear friend Sam,

How are you doing? I am well here both with my studies and health. In your previous email, you have asked me about the unification of Nepal. Therefore I am going to mention the same.

Prithvi Narayan Shah is known as the founder of unified Nepal. Previously Nepal was separated into several kingdoms ruled by various Kings. Prithvi Narayan Shah was a brutal King of the Gorkha kingdom. He was an ambitious and a true nation lover person. He assumed that if these kingdoms would not be united then they would be captured/ ruled by the British empire as India, our neighboring country was also ruled by them. To protect Nepal, he started the process to unify it by attacking various kingdoms. 

He also married to a princess of Palpa kingdom to involve the place in unification. After that he fought and unified into a single Nepal. Eventually after he lost his son at a very young age, his daughter in law continued the unification process. Later on his younger son contributed to form a large unified Nepal. 

The Nepal we see today is much smaller than the unified Nepal because we lost against the Great Britain in the Anglo-Nepal war and according to the Sugauli Treaty, we had to give some land including Darjeeling and Srinagar to the British government as a part of the British India. 

Overall, Prithvi Narayan Shah played most significant role in the unification of Nepal. In fact he spent his entire life in the sake of his motherland.
